浦河のフレンド森のがっこうの子どもたちが、メムの敷地で半日のフィールドワークを行いました。

「木も、動物も、空も――興味を持てば、いろんなことを教えてくれる先生です。でも、興味を持たなければ、なにも教えてくれません」。

そんな言葉を胸に、子どもたちは敷地を元気に駆け回りながら、たくさんの植物や、メムで行われているさまざまな「循環」に目を向けていきます。

「なにこれー！」と、次々に飛び出す質問の嵐。何の草かわからなければ、ただ踏んでしまうかもしれない草も、知ろうとすれば一つひとつに名前があり、特徴があり、食べられるものもあれば、何かの役に立つこともあります。

子どもたちは、そんな小さな発見をいくつも見つけていました。

The children from the Forest School in Urakawa came for a half-day fieldwork session on the campus.

“Trees, animals, and the sky — if you take an interest in them, they can teach you so much. But if you don’t, they won’t teach you anything.”

With these words in mind, the children run freely across the grounds, turning their attention to the many plants and the cycles of nature taking place.

“What’s this?” they called out again and again, showering us with questions. A plant you don’t recognize might get stepped on without a second thought — but if you try to learn about it, you’ll find that each one has a name, distinct features, and sometimes can be eaten or served a purpose.

The children were full of curiosity, discovering one small wonder after another.
